왜 만들었나
작품 뒤의 마음
어머니가 진단을 받으신 그 주에 이 작품을 만들기 시작했습니다. 제 두 손으로, 삶이라는 게 보호받아야 할 약한 것이 아니라, 어떻게든 길을 찾아내는 끈질긴 것이라는 걸 스스로에게 설득해야 했어요. 세포처럼 분열하는 글자들. 멈추기를 거부하는 글자들.

어떻게 생각했나
작품 뒤의 사고
문자 체계가 살아 있다면 어떨까요? 이 작품 속의 한글은 하나의 세포처럼 행동합니다. 흡수하고, 분열하고, 떠다니고, 결합하고, 죽습니다. 화면 위로 군락이 자라납니다. 'culture(문화·배양)'라는 두 가지 의미 모두에서의 군락. 언어는 생물학이고, 생물학은 일종의 글쓰기입니다.
