왜 만들었나
작품 뒤의 마음
아버지는 말수가 적은 분이었습니다. 돌아가시고 난 뒤, 아버지가 저에게 보낸 모든 이메일을 처음부터 다시 읽었습니다. 그제야 알았어요. 아버지는 모든 것을 다 말씀하셨다는 걸. 다만 오랜 시간에 걸쳐, 조각조각, 천천히 흐르는 강처럼 말씀하셨던 것뿐이었습니다. 이 작품은 아버지께 쓰는 답장입니다. 끝나지 않는 긴 문장.

어떻게 생각했나
작품 뒤의 사고
진짜 대화는 녹취록이 아닙니다. 흐름입니다. 단어가 이어지고, 풀어지고, 다른 의미로 다시 만들어집니다. 이 작품은 한글을 그 흐름으로 다룹니다. 글자는 물이고, 문장은 소용돌이고, 문단은 강의 넓은 굽이입니다. 같은 말은 한 번도 똑같이 다시 말해지지 않습니다. 그러나 사라지는 것도 없습니다.

당신이 느끼길 바라는 것
이 작품은 보는 것이 아니라 같이 사는 것입니다. 매일 지나는 복도에 걸어 두세요. 어떤 주에는 단 한 번도 눈에 띄지 않을 거예요. 어떤 주에는 작품이 당신을 안아 줄 겁니다. 작품이 바뀌는 게 아니라 당신이 바뀐 거예요. 강은 늘 거기 있었습니다.
