왜 만들었나
작품 뒤의 마음
오로라를 직접 본 적이 없습니다. 평생 보지 못할 수도 있겠죠. 그래서 만들어 보고 싶었습니다. 빛 입자가 아니라, 제가 가진 가장 가까운 재료로. 곧은 선에서 풀려난 한글로. 하늘처럼 떠돌도록 허락된 글자로.

어떻게 생각했나
작품 뒤의 사고
한글이 격자에서 풀려나는 순간, 한글은 더 이상 문자 체계가 아니라 날씨가 됩니다. 부드럽게 떠다니는 빛, 설명 없이 펼쳐졌다 접히는 빛. 오로라에는 메시지가 없습니다. 이 작품에도 없습니다. 다만, 읽힐 필요가 없는 아름다움이 있을 뿐입니다.

당신이 느끼길 바라는 것
호텔 로비, 라운지, 피곤한 사람들이 지나는 복도에 걸어 두세요. 3초만 그들의 걸음을 늦춰 주면 충분합니다. 오로라는 이해받기를 요구하지 않습니다. 다만 목격되기를 청할 뿐입니다. 이 작품을 그렇게 목격해 주세요.
